Surya waits anxiously for Imlie to return home. Arjun notices his unease and asks if he’s worried about her. Surya, masking his concern as a duty-bound officer, explains that he’s simply concerned about her safe return.
Arjun, sensing something more, encourages Surya to open up about his feelings for Imlie. Surya denies any such emotions, but Arjun points out how Surya’s actions reveal otherwise, especially his protective nature towards her. Surya is left speechless, unable to deny the truth.
Meanwhile, Nirmala carelessly tosses garbage into the garden through a servant. Imlie arrives home and is dismayed by the sight. She confronts Nirmala, who dismisses her with arrogance, claiming her right to dispose of waste as she pleases. Despite the disrespect, Imlie stoops to clean up the mess. Surya approaches her, noticing her sadness, and inquires about it.
Imlie shares her recent failures, including her exam results and her struggle to gather rent money. Surya reassures her, suggesting options for her exam and offering support with the garbage, symbolizing his growing care for her.
Surya sets the dinner table and gathers the family for the meal. Indira inquires about Imlie’s whereabouts. Surya explains that she’s no longer staying in the outhouse due to financial constraints. Nirmala expresses relief that Imlie is no longer living with them.
As the family begins to eat, Surya praises the food, revealing that Imlie is the chef behind the delicious meal. Nirmala, however, throws a fit and refuses to eat. Imlie suggests they eat food prepared by the maid instead. In frustration, Nirmala pushes the food away.
Surya enters his room, where Arjun taunts him about his interaction with Imlie in the garden. Surya becomes visibly nervous. Meanwhile, CJ approaches Imlie and apologizes for not assisting her. Imlie assures CJ that he is a true friend who has always been there for her. CJ then turns to Surya, offering him some moral advice on how to support Imlie.
